How to play Snake Rush

Start the game
Press Play to jump straight into Rush, or pick a mode card on the home screen. Your snake starts moving as soon as you choose a direction.

Steer the snake
Use the ← ↑ → ↓ arrow keys or W A S D. On a phone, swipe the way you want to go. Hold a direction to speed up, and press Space to pause.

Eat and grow
Each piece of food makes the snake longer and earns points. Eat quickly one after another to build a combo and multiply your score. Golden food is worth extra.

Don't crash
The run ends if you hit a wall, a rock or your own body, so plan your turns as the snake gets longer. Use coins to revive and rewind 3 seconds, then try to beat your best score.

Every 5 bites, three upgrade bubbles appear on the board. Steer into the one you want, and build a different snake every run.

How do I start playing Snake Rush?
Open snakerush.org and press Play, or press any arrow key. The snake starts moving with your first turn.
What are the controls?
On a computer, use the arrow keys or W, A, S, D to turn. Hold a direction to speed up. Space or P pauses and R restarts. On a phone or tablet, swipe in the direction you want to go, or turn on the on-screen D-pad in Settings.
How does the snake grow?
Every piece of food you eat makes the snake longer and adds to your score. Eat several pieces quickly one after another to build a combo that multiplies your points.
What happens if the snake hits a wall or itself?
The run ends. You can spend coins to revive, which rewinds the last 3 seconds. In Classic you can switch walls off so the snake wraps around the edges, or turn on Peaceful mode, where bumping into something only stops the snake.
Are there different speeds and board sizes?
Yes. Choose from 7 speeds, from Very slow to Very fast, and 5 board sizes, from Tiny 7×7 to Huge 37×37. You can also set how much food is on the board.
Is Snake Rush free? Do I need an account?
It's free to play and needs no account or download. Your progress is saved in your browser on this device, and you can copy a backup code from your Profile to move it to another device.
Can I play offline?
Yes. After your first visit the game works without an internet connection, and you can install it as an app from your browser menu.
